Our Approach

The Mold Remediation Process

01

Sealing Off the Area

Affected areas are contained using plastic sheeting and negative air pressure systems to prevent mold spores from spreading to other parts of the home during remediation. If necessary, we identify and fix any moisture problems (e.g., leaks, humidity) to prevent mold from returning.

02

Treatment

Affected materials (e.g., drywall & insulation) are removed if they cannot be cleaned. Non-porous surfaces are cleaned with specialized antimicrobial solutions and HEPA-filter vacuums. Affected materials are sealed in bags and removed.

03

Restoration

Removed drywall and flooring are replaced, and any necessary repairs to the structure made. We’ll perform another series of tests to ensure remediation was successful, and provide instructions on how to prevent future growth.

Causes of Mold in the Home

There are 5 factors that help mold grow.

Existing mold spores – These are almost everywhere in and outside your home. They are extremely lightweight and invisible, so they’re easily transferred by air. If they find moisture or humidity, they begin to reproduce..

Moisture – Mold grows best where it’s damp and warm. The longer the surface is damp, the more likely mold will form once spores land there.

Oxygen – Mold needs oxygen to survive. Lack of sunlight is another necessity. The sun’s ultraviolet rays alter mold’s cell structure, destroying it.

The right temperature – Mold needs a “goldilocks” temperature–not too cold or hot–to thrive.

A food source – Mold can feed on a lot of things in your home–even sheetrock! It just needs to be damp.

How Mold Exposure Can Affect Your Health

Know the risks and protect yourself and your family.

Respiratory Problems

Mold spores are mostly airborne, and from there they can enter the nose or mouth, and into the respiratory system. Once inside, they can produce allergens and myotoxins, which are known to be irritating to the throat and lungs. It is worse for people already diagnosed with asthma or other breathing problems.

Allergic Reactions

Itchy nose, sinus congestion, constant sneezing, red eyes; these familiar responses–and other, more serious reactions like asthma attacks–can occur in people with a mold allergy.
